Review of The Accrington Pals at the Royal Exchange

The latest production of the 1981 drama by Peter Whelan, The Accrington Pals, took place at the Royal Exchange in Manchester and delighted those who were able to get tickets. The story takes us on the journey that the smallest town in England went on when raising their own battalion to battle the Bosch. They managed to draft 1000 men, 720 fought in the Battle of the Somme and within half an hour 584 had gone missing, been wounded or were dead. Continue reading
